The Invention

The patented technology comprises a mobile device case for noise reduction through the placement of an acoustic foam in front of the microphone. The core of the invention is the sound wave guiding chamber that provides an audio enhancement for the user.

It captures, reflects and concentrates the sound waves (from a person talking) to the voice receiving microphones at the bottom of the smartphone.

The Prototypes

The latest production ready prototype for the iPhone 14 Pro works like magic in windy conditions. Our production ready prototypes are 3D printed in TPU material using additive manufacturing.

The COMMUNICASE cover works like magic in windy conditions by reducing wind induced noise. In the areas of the frequency band where the human voice is located, the wind noise is reduced by up to 60 dB.

The spectrogram illustrates the wind effect of a ~4 meters per second breeze on a smartphone, generated with a fan in a studio. The left side of the spectrogram is the result without the noise reducing cover on the phone and the right side is the result with the noise reducing cover on the phone.

The result

The result is enhanced volume and clarity of the speaker’s voice. A key advantage of the invention is the innovative way the mobile device case removes disturbing wind noise.

The acoustic foam works as an energy absorber, preventing the wind pressure from reaching the phone´s voice receiving microphones. When the original sound is fuller, the real-time audio enhancement software has much better audio data to produce the best possible sound.
